Two ATLANTA DITC Board Members Elected to the WOA Board

Lausanne, Switzerland (November 27, 2011)
Congratulations to Amadou Dia Ba (Senegal - 1988 Olympic Silver medalist) and Liston Bochette (Puerto Rico - 4 time Olympian), two ATLANTA DITC Board Members, on their election today to the World Olympians Association (WOA) Board of Directors.  Amadou Dia Ba will serve as WOA Vice-President and Liston Bochette will serve on the WOA Executive Board.  Joël Bouzou (France - 1984 Olympic Bronze medalist) who is one of the recipients of the ATLANTA DITC 2008 PARSE Award, was elected President of the WOA.

4th Lausanne Summit - Rio de Janeiro 2011

The ATLANTA DITC delegation attended and represented HE Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and the City of Atlanta at the 4th World Union of Olympic Cities (WUOC) Lausanne Summit and WUOC Annual General Assembly held (November 10-11, 2011) in Rio de Janeiro, the host city of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Meeting ATLANTA DITC and Institutional Partners

Atlanta, GA (November 4, 2011)
Today, Friday November 4, 2011, a Beijing Sport University (BSU) & Sports Officials Training Center of General Administration of Sports of China Delegation led by BSU Vice President Dr. Wang Fen met all day with the ATLANTA DITC and Georgia Perimeter College (GPC), as well as other institutional partners of the ATLANTA DITC. The BSU delegations visited: the Emory University Woodruff PE Center, the Dunwoody GPC Campus, the ATLANTA DITC campus at Brook Run, the Little Creek Horse Farm, the Emory University Sports Medicine Center, and finally the Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech) Campus Recreational Center (CRC) that houses the official Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games swimming and diving venue.  At 18:45, during the last meeting with BSU at ATLANTA DITC headquarters, Noah Downer, City of Atlanta, Director for International Affairs came to greet the BSU delegation on behalf of HE Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.

The Global Fund High-Level Panel report was released today.  In addition to the Panel co-chairs, the High-Level Panel was comprised of 5 other High-Panel members.  The ATLANTA DITC is very proud that two of its Board Members, namely Dr. Marc-Daniel Gutekunst and Richard Butcher, were selected by the Panel Co-Chairs to serve (April - September, 2011) on the High-Level Panel Support Team also comprised of 7 members.
