The DITC donates "Celebration of Sports Brazil", a painting by Olympic artist Steve Allen, to the people of Brazil and the 2007 Rio Pan American Games Organizing Committee

During the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, the DITC launched a tradition of unveiling Olympic paintings.  Based on the growing partnership between the DITC and the Americas, and the 30-year-old Sister City program between RioDuring the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, the DITC launched a tradition of unveiling Olympic paintings.  Based on the growing partnership between the DITC and the Americas, and the 30-year-old Sister City program between Rio and Atlanta, Olympic artist Steve Allen was commissioned to create “Celebration of Sports Brazil.” 

This painting celebrates the 2007 Pan American Games, Brazilian sports heroes, and the Atlanta-Rio de Janeiro friendship.  The painting unveiled during the Games is now on permanent display at the Maracanã Stadium, where opening and closing ceremonies for the 2007 Pan American Games were held. 

Delta Air Lines provided tickets for the three Brazilian athletes and their coach, who attended the May 2007 DeKalb International Prep Classic (DIPC), two tickets to Mr. Steve R. Allen to fly to Brazil, as well as several tickets to members of the Atlanta-Rio Sister City Program.
