On May 6th, 2007 the ATLANTA DITC entered its 6th year of operation. In less than 5 years, the ATLANTA DITC has become a world recognized sports institution, not only training elite athletes preparing for the Olympics, but also organizing elite competitions.

In 2005 together with the Tunisian Athletics Federation, the ATLANTA DITC Co-hosted in Tunis the 2005 African Junior Athletics Championships; in 2006 through the ATLANTA DITC a major financial contribution was made by a US corporation to the 2006 African Athletics Championships held in Mauritius; since 2004 the ATLANTA DITC has hosted the ATLANTA DeKalb International Prep Classic (athletics). In 2007 the ATLANTA DeKalb International Prep Classic (ATLANTA Classic) attracted 49 junior athletes from Belgium, South and Central America, and the Caribbean, and a few of them went on to win Gold medals at the
5th IAAF World Youth Championships, July 11-15, 2007 in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Since July 2007, the ATLANTA DITC is the official USOC training site for US Team Handball. This year the ATLANTA DITC won the bids to host in Atlanta the 2008 Pan American Team Handball Championships (June 21-26, 2008), and the 2009 Modern Pentathlon World Cup (March 19-22, 2009).

Finally PASO and USOC selected the ATLANTA DITC to host a Beijing Training Camp (
May 2-19, 2008) for 50 athletes (who already qualified for the Olympic Games) and coaches from the Americas preparing for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. In 2003, both ATLANTA DITC Co-Presidents Ambassador Andrew YOUNG and Dr. Marc Daniel GUTEKUNST signed a partnership agreement with the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) President Colonel Hamad Malboum KALKABA. Based on the 2003 ATLANTA DITC-CAA Agreement, the partnership co-hosting TUNIS 2005, Mrs. Fatima ELFAQUIR successful leadership at the helm of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) North Africa, as well as the resounding success of the 1st Edition in 2006 of the International Symposium on Athletics in Africa chaired by Mrs. Fatima ELFAQUIR of which the ATLANTA DITC is a founding member; the ATLANTA DITC has decided to submit a grant proposal to the US Department of States, that would, if selected and funded, further the excellent partnership between the ATLANTA DITC and the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) North Africa.

The proposed project would focus on "Training Moroccan Youth Coaches". If funded the project would start Iin the Fall of 2009.
